  2. The American dream is still alive today but it is suffering from the economic problems this great country has found. Americans have almost lost the definition of the American dream. In 2009 a survey was taken to see what the economic standing of the country was and 74 percent said it was poor.

  3. The American Dream is slowly dying. This is because in the slide show 79% of Americans say that people can still change their economic standings. People think that it's getting harder and harder to move to the upper class. 92% of people think that hard work will get you the American Dream. If you work really hard to change things then you can possibly get what you want.

  4. The American Dream is dead. From the survey it proved that people believe that the economy is not good. Because we are living in a different time period than the great depression it is difficult to move up in society. That is why I think that the American Dream is dead.

  5. I believe that the American Dream is dead. Even though all the slides show that people still believe it, I don't see any evidence that people are actually going out and trying to complete it. I think that because 56% of Americans think that we can still improve their economic conditions, but 79% of Americans think that people cant improve their economic conditions. Also the older people are the easier they think that they could go up the economic ladder then people can now.

  6. I believe the American dream is dead. Many people believe that the dream is still alive. On the graph "Possible to Succeed in Today's Society" many people believe that they are able to to improve their economic standing. But I haven't seen any proof of it. If you have no money, it's harder to move yourself up the class. In America, we make it difficult to raise your economic standing. They don't have the chance to make themselves get higher in class. Also in the chart "Dynamics Affecting Economic Mobility" 92% of people believe that hard work is a very important factor to succeeding. But a lot of wealthy people don't even do anything and work hard at all. In the chart "Defining the American Dream" the number one answer of 74% was 'being free to accomplish anything'. But as you can see, not everyone is free to accomplish everything and anything they want. Some people don't have the oppertunities to succeed and accomplish what they want. Mainly because of money, education and other factors that go into it that not everyone can get their hands on.

The 'American Dream' is dead. It has been dead for a while now. If you look at the survey, it clearly states that the majority of people think that the people think that the national, and their own economic stance is poor. A lot of people also see that they cannot move up into the economic status, because you're born were you're born. if you're born into a middle class or poor family, you don't have the opportunities that the high upper class, or the upper class. Therefor, you're set up to fail, while they're set up to succeed.

  8. In my opinion, the American Dream is dead, there isn't much of an opportunity for people to improve their economic standing. To pursue anything you want and become wealthier you usually have to go to college which usually is crazy expensive causing you to go into debt by trying to get a better economic standing. Now, for anyone to be successful in life it is almost a given for people to go into college. For people that are born in the lower class, you are basically stuck there, even if you do very well in high school you will still have a hard time paying for something that could eventually get you wealthier. Many people that took this survey believe that is possible to improve your economic standing, maybe not strongly, but the percentage is higher than those who do no believe you cannot improve your situation. Unfortunately for the younger and people in 2014, not 2006/2009, it is harder to see that people can improve their economic standing.

  9. I believe the "American dream" is dead. If you take a look at the survey, there is a chart regarding the possibility of success in today's economy. Many people stated that they strongly agree that they would be able to succeed. However, in another chart, people believe we live with a poor economy.

  10. I think that the American Dream is alive to day. This is because 60% of people 30-39 think that it is easier to move of the income ladder than there parents.

  11. I do not think the American Dream is still alive anymore because of the poor life choices people make and the debt is increasing everywhere in the country. No one has the same opportunities as others anymore these days because of the differences in personal economic standings. Living in poor conditions stop you from moving on in the future.

  12. I do think that the American Dream is still alive today. After based on the data that we saw on the National level survey you can see that people believe hard work is they key to fixing the nations economy and doing good for each other. 92% of the population agrees that hard work is essential.

  13. The American Dream is still alive, however its much more difficult to achive due to the pessemistic attidtude of the American People and economic problems that cripple our nation. Most of these graphs are rage from 2006 - 2009 and in 2008 we were in an actual almost major recession, so outlook on our government was probably tilted twards the pesemistic side of the drawing board, so they tend to think that they cannot achieve what they want, and work less hard because they feel they cant move up the social and corperate ladder. Hard work is the leading cause in success, and because people think that working hard wont help them because of our economic state, they dont.

  14. The american dream may seem dead but it is definitely still achievable. The survey may show that the economy is bad BUT, if you have a good attitude, work hard, stay motivated and do what you need to do, then you can live the american dream. I say this because in the survey it states that 56% of people think that even in this "terrible economy" it is still possible to live a good life and the american dream. Another reason for this could be because in the survey it says that 92% of people are hard working.

  15. I think that the American Dream is still alive for the immigrants coming of into America today. When the immigrants come to America they have a fresh start; no matter what they do they will move up the economic ladder. 92 percent say that hard work will move you up and if the immigrants today work harder, they will be able to achieve. With the people already living in America, I believe that it all depends on where you are born in order in achieve anything greater than your parents. You need to know the right people and be in a wealthy family to remain wealthy.

  16. I do think that the American Dream is dead because of the evidence shown in the slide show. In 2009 73% of people say that the economy is bad and they are struggling. Next, only 48% of people are now saying that at age 40-49 they are doing good but most people said it was when you are above 70. That is why the American Dream is dead.

  17. The American dream is still alive, although it may be harder in an economy like ours where some of the citizens have to battle an adversity such as poverty it is still very possible for someone to work hard and get themselves to be very successful. Our country gives so many opportunities for people to succeed. Education is accessible to almost everyone in the country. If you get a good education, you are more likely to succeed and get a good job. When these people get a good job it makes them able to move up on the economic ladder. 73% of people answered yes, saying that if was possible to do better than your parents. People come to America so their children can have better lives and 73% of people believe that is still possible. The American dream is still alive.

  18. I think the American Dream is alive today, regardless of the poor economy. 56% of people in this country agree strongly that it is still possible for people to improve their economic standing. 79% loosely agree that it is possible to change your standing, as well. Hard work and ambition can bring you a long way, just by itself.

The American Dream is still alive today not many of us can see this because we are blinded by what we want to have, not what we do have. The American dream was built off of hard working individuals and dreams. Your family will deftly have an affect on you they should help you to try to sauced to the best that you can be.

  20. yes the american dream is dead, it is dead because their is almost not opportunity for people to move up the economic ladder unless they are born into money or they go to college and to get an education. But even then after college they are still going to have huge amounts of debt to pay off and that is if they can find a job right out of college that will give them the opportunity to advance in there field.

  21. I believe that the American Dream is dead after looking at the survey results. 73% of people in 2009 say that the economy is poor, and 79% of people believe its not possible to improve their economic standings. If people have this kind of thought in their head then their not going to get anywhere and the dream will stay dead. Some people start at a lower rate of succeeding due to their social class of their family. If you start off wealthy then you are starting off on a better foot for succeeding. If you are with a poor family you are starting lower than some other people making it harder for your American Dream to become true.

  22. I believe the American Dream has declined since the 1920s however there are many opportunities for people to improve their lifestyles. After FDR's Administration the GOP Republican party argued that the American work ethic declined because of all the government New Deal programs that were happening. These New Deal programs were created into laws because the Democratic party maintained control of the Executive branch as well as the Senate and the House. The dominance of the republican party was mainly in the Judicial branch. The Republican party also argued that FDR's New Deal programs expanded the role of government entirely. Under the Hoover Administration he passed The Agricultural Marketing Act which helped farmers help themselves. Although the government helped the farmers out they did not buy surplus products. This was a political move by Hoover to prevent the people from relying too much on the government. Therefore based of the difference of administrations many could argue that the American work ethic was destroyed. However the American dream can still be considered because 73% of Americans said they can do better than their parents.

  23. The american dream is alive for some. When the immigrants that come rough places get here they think it is the greatest place in the world. They think it is so great working a minnimum wage job living in a ratty apartment. We as americans think that the american dream is to be rich and famous so people know they will never be that so they think it is dead.

  24. I believe that the American Dream is still alive today because 58% of people think that their living conditions are better than their parents as of 2010. Many still say hard work is a big factor along with having ambition, staying healthy and education are apart of living the American dream and they're able to make that happen. Although the economic status of the country makes it hard to climb up the ladder or sometimes be positive I still do think that the American Dream is alive.

  25. I believe that the American dream is dead. I believe this because in 2006 27% of people were doing poor in the economy. In 2009 79% were doing poor, this is showing me that citizens are slowly loosing respect for themselves. The society is giving up on life because of their economic status. Since some citizens give up it gives a bad influence on other citizens who follow in their footsteps.

  26. The American Dream is still alive today because people still believe that hard work and ambition are the reason why people are able to move up the income ladder. Immigrants move to this country to get a better life and better working conditions than what they had. Regular Americans are also doing that too the American dream is do better your situation which is why I think the dream is still alive.

  27. The survey shows that 56% of people think that it is still possible to have a good life in this poor economy. Even though many people struggle I think that you can still be happy with what you have even if it's not much. It may be hard to get started to succeed but once you get there your personal American dream can come true. Due to the horrible economic conditions it is hard to live your dream, how ever with ambition you can still succeed and make a good life for yourself no matter what the theory's are of the Americans dream, with ambition, hope, and hard work you can start on the bottom and end up on top.

  29. Although to some the American Dream is still alive, I believe the dream is dead. The American Dream is dead because there are too many factors that you need to worry about these days to have an exact dream. In Problems With Economic Mobility, 60% of half the Americans who are at the bottom of the income ladder remain there 10 years later. There doesn't seem to be a change of people getting out of their bad economic state and 10 years is a long time.

  30. I believe the American Dream is dead because even though there are obviously people who are successful and have the ability to move past their parents on the income ladder, the majority of people are not this lucky. In the graph "Economic Standing of Country and Individual Declined" you can see that 46 more people viewed the economic conditions in 2009 to be more poor than in 2006. This represents economic stability decreasing and only getting worse for people. That's why I think the American Dream is becoming more dead as the years pass on.

  31. i helve that the american dream is death because most people and kids are not caring for education only 83% care for it i think that it should be 100% but no one is doing anything also they are allot immigrants i think that the American Dream is death because people race many states they have problems with different races people who had more money they start in higher level as they one they don't have but is not always true that they think because they have money they don't have too do it but i will say that more that 75% they became poor because they give up.

  32. I believe that the American Dream is still alive, but you have to make it happen for yourself. Things that are great in life aren't just handed to you. The American dream as individualistic, no matter what or where you come from you can still make a life for yourself. I don't believe that growing up in a good neighborhood and having educated parents really has a huge affect on who you become. Even though 40% of people say that the neighborhood has a big affect on it i disagree. Some of the biggest people in music started off with really crappy lives full of poverty and now are striking it rich because they made their dream come true. The things you need to achieve your dream is Hard work and ambition. So therefore i believe The american Dream is still alive for the people who push for it.

  33. I would say that the American Dream is still alive today because 92% of people believe that hard work is required to achieve the American Dream which is a good thing because working hard is a good quality for everyone to have/posess. On top of that 89% of people believe that having ambition is key to achieving the American Dream which is another good quality for all people to have.

  34. I believe the american dream is still alive because most people that took the survey said that hard work and ambition are still very strong parts of the american dream. 36. I believe that the American Dream is still alive today. I say this because 92% of people said that hard work is essential and plays a large role in Economic Prosperity. Based on this it is true to say that if people work hard they will be in a better economic position. Though, even though this statistic is true, many people still don't work hard in order to get economic prosperity which leads to nice things and overall, a happier life which is the American dream. In conclusion, I think there is definitely still an American Dream, it is just that many people gave up on it because they don't work hard enough at it.

  37. I believe the American Dream is still alive but has greatly declined. I believe this because in a parent prediction it is believed that 62% of kids will be in a better standard of living when they are their parents age. Also, 56% of people think it is still possible to improve their economic standing. The reason it has declined is because of more government intervention beginning in the Great Depression where it was needed. After it people got used to all the benefits and didn't want to go back to having to working hard. Also, people are too busy complaining about either being a minority or how they are so helpless when if they just tried hard and worked hard they would be able to make a good living.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I believe that the American Dream has changed from what it used to be in the 1920s. In the survey people's results for the question, economic conditions in this country today? 73% said they were poor in 2009 but in the question, rate your own economic conditions, 25% people said there own conditions were poor in 2009. So the American Dream is still lingering in our century and yes it could disappear but there are to many Americans aiming for there dreams to have it be dead.

And everyone's sense of the American Dream is very different. To some people, it's being rich and living a long life. To some others, it is just simply having a family and being happy. So, for some, the American Dream is long gone, but for others, it's only just beginning

  43. I believe that the American Dream is still alive today. Every individual has their own interpretation of the American Dream, because everyone is different. Like the male and female statistics show what a majority of each gender thinks of their own dreams they want to fulfill. One example would be that 52% of men only felt that it was important to own a home but 64 % of women felt that owning a home was a huge part of the American Dream. So not only does an individual have their own decision on the American dream but so would an individual. I believe that the American dream is Individualized for everyone, and also that everyone has their own opinion. They might have only interviewed a select number of people on the street and not all Americans in the nation. As the saying goes “ beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” that would be the same for the american dream. Everyone has their own definition of beauty and everyone will have their own definition of the American Dream.

  44. In my opinion, the American Dream is dead, there isn't much of an opportunity for people to improve their economic standing. Or for them to pursue any of your want dreams/goals. Also there is not way for you to become wealthier, as well as you usually have to go to college which usually is immensely expensive. Thus causing you to go into debt by trying to get a better economic standing. In addition, for anyone to be successful in life it’s almost a given for people to go into college. For people that are born in the lower class, you are basically stuck there, even if you do very well in high school, you will still have a hard time paying for something that could eventually get you even more wealth. However, the many, possibly even thousands of people that took this survey & still believe that is possible to improve your economic standing. Even though it may not be strongly believe. Lastly, the percentage is higher for those who do no believe you cannot improve your situation. Unfortunately, it apparently shows that for the younger people ranked in 2014, it’s harder to see that people can improve their economic standing.

College is really expensive and it does cause a lot of people to go into debt but if you really try in college, and you do steps to become successful, you will pay off your college debt, it doesn't matter where you come from.

  45. Yes the American Dream is still alive today because with hope anything can be achieved. By hope I am referring to the 92% people who believe that hardwork is the way to go. The American Dream will always remain alive even in the worst of situations, for example look at the Great Depression. Some people pulled out rich during the Great Depression, people can pull out of their class if they have hope. Without hope you can't achieve anything. Another statistic claims that 89% people have ambition, and with ambition and hope literally anything is possible. In fact I'm sure you follow the news, their was a poor man who recently became a very popular and wealthy man after he was singing on the streets. See I believe that the American Dream will always survive. Yes it is true that some people feel as if they will remain stuck in their class structure forever, however with hope and with ambition their is always the possibility that you can step up the ladder. That slim possibility is more than nothing, and therefore the American Dream is never dead. It also reported that atleast 58% of people claim that living conditions were better than their parents. So in all honesty people back then had the opportunity and the possibility to get out of their class had an even harder chance than those today. Atleast that is what the statistics claim. Therefore the American Dream is not dying, it's always their, it's how we use our money, and jobs, that determines whether we can achieve the American Dream. People also should understand that not all people have the same "Dream". But without money, or some source of income the Dream is hard to accomplish because money serves as a protection(shelter), clothing, food, water, and all the neccessary things for human life. The "Dream" may be harder for me than you, because maybe what you want is to be very wealthy, and popular while I may want some wealth and to be viewed as a hero, as a competitor. Even pros like Jeter who "Dreamed" about becoming a pro baseball player at the age of 6 relied on his parents for some source of protection, food, clothing, because without these items the Dream can never be achieved. In all conclusion the American Dream is not dead because if you're alive then you can achieve since it means you have food, you have some sort of clothing, protection, and with that, with living, with having hope, and ambition you can in fact become the "American Dream".

  48. The American Dream is alive. The American Dream is about having hope that anybody has the chance to get ahead in America. It is about the pursuit of happiness and ensuring that your kids will be better off than you are. According to this survey, people believe that the two most important dynamics that affect economic mobility are hard work and having ambition. This shows that out of the 100 people that were surveyed, a large amount of them believe that if you work hard and set your mind to something, you can put yourself on the road to success. Also according to the results of this survey, the majority of people believe that they are much or somewhat better off economically than their parents were when they were their age. In 2009, only 16 people thought that they were much or somewhat worse off economically, while 58 people thought that they were much or somewhat better off economically.

Since the majority of the people answering the survey says they were better off economically than their parents, that brings hope to people, and shows that no matter what you come from, you can be more successful than you may think you can be.

  49. I believe that the American Dream is both dead and alive. My reason being is because people have different definitions on the American Dream. Some people are happy with the little things in life and although they may not be what is considered to be "rich" or "upper middle class" they are living a life that they are happy in. Some people think that money equals happiness which isn't necessarily true. 92% of people believe that in order to live the American Dream you need to work hard. Which I do agree. You need to work hard at work, school, and home. If you choose to be lazy with your life and are making absolutely no money, you're obviously not going to be able to afford even the little things that make people happy, not only that but you need to support yourself and pay for the necessities. The American Dream is all what you make it out to be, but you have to work hard to create your dream first.

    2. I agree with you about the American Dream being alive because I think that what you said “you have to work hard to create your dream” is true. The 92% of Americans that believe that you need to work hard in order to live the American Dream are the people that are keeping it alive. I also agree with how you said that the American Dream is also dead because people have different definitions of the American Dream.

  50. I believe the American dream varies for people. Usually depends on how you were raised, were you were brought up and what your influences are. You should work hard to take care of yourself and family, do things that make you happy and that helps others. Sometimes even when you do those things it might not work out for you, like being really successful in college, you have that piece of paper and you are ready to get out in the world. You end up not getting a high paying job and you worried about not paying your college debt. Many homeless people went for the American dream but it didn't work for them. The American dream today has been changed around and is a board idea on how an American should live their life.

  51. The American Dream is the belief that a person, regardless of their past, can succeed in their goals if they try hard enough because of the liberty America allows its citizens. I believe the American Dream is still alive because 92% of people still believe that hard work will make a person succeed, and 89% of people believe having ambition will make a person succeed. Even though the country is just coming out of a recession, 79% of people believe they can succeed in today's economy. Although these numbers are promising, the American Dream lives only so long as american citizens are free. Denial of fundamental rights could hurt the American Dream, and America along with it.

    2. I agree with Luke, to say that the American Dream is alive. In my eyes the American Dream is alive for anyone that believe they are living the American Dream. It is different for everyone, some people think that living the Dream is to work hard for goals in life, succeeding and reaching your goals could be the definition of living the American Dream. Some people think that living the American Dream is to live rich and wealthy and never to have to worry about expenses or money. In my opinion I think that living the American Dream is to live happy, doing what you love in life, and to always work hard for the things that you truly believe in.

  52. The American Dream is still alive. The only thing that could kill the American Dream is if the economic system changed so that those who work hard were not rewarded and had no way to leave the social class that they were in. But that is not true yet. Right now 56% of people in American agree that it is still possible for them to improve their economic standing through hard work. And 79% loosely agree that it is possible to change your economic standing. So a majority of the population still think that the American Dream is alive and active. All that is needed is the ambition, which 89% of the population believe will make them succeed.

The economy has been so poor in the past that the american dream is out of hand. Many people are just getting by let alone try to live the dream. A small part of me thinks that it is still alive. For people who really want it can still go out and get it. People still work hard for their money but still dont bring home enough to do make their life as happy as possible.

A few examples of this would be 74% voted being free to accomplish anything, 68% free to say or do what you want, 64% children being better off financially, 61% being financially secure, 60% succeeding regardless and owning a house. These numbers say a lot because it tells you everyone mostly believes in the typical aspects which make the “American Dream” what it always is commonly perceived as.

  58. I believe the American dream is still alive. If the American Dream is the right to living peacefully and prosperously, than everyone still has the power to live this dream. Even though many people think the nation’s economy is responsible for your success in life, it is actually you who holds the power to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Especially in the present time, hard work and dedication is what succeeds in everyday life. Those who are committed to what they do, and work hard to achieve their goals are more likely to be noticed than people who are lazy, and therefore become more successful in life. As shown by the survey results under ‘Dynamics Affecting Economic Mobility,’ most participants voted that hard work, and ambition are what affect your economic success the most, along with keeping yourself healthy. Therefor, the American Dream is something that you are in control of, and something that is completely unique to every person. “Find something you love, and be the best at it. Then, it will never be ‘just a job.’”

  69. The American Dream is dying out and is not the same as it had once been. After looking at the national survey, the economy both nationally and personally is in bad condition. The American Dream being the idea of getting ahead, prospering, and just overall being successful was not supported in this current survey. At least half of those involved in the survey both personally or nationally from 2006 and 2009 placed themselves as poor or only fair. This is to say that people were not as successful as they had hoped to be and obviously were not living the "American Dream." This same survey also includes how in 2006-2009 the percentage of people who felt that their place in the economy had gone down went from 68% to a huge 94%. This is to show that conditions have only worsened and the American Dream continues to die out over time as the economy and other factors continue to take away from this.

    3. I totally agree with you that the american dream is still alive today. I really like your sentence when you said that if you have determination, you can accomplish anything. That, I agree on very strongly because a lot of people in our world do not realize that if you have that determination you can achieve anything. Good response!

    4. I don't agree with the american dream being alive but i do agree with the ninety-two percentage of people who chose that hard work is a way to achieve success

  75. The biggest thing in America today that fell with a 92 on the National charts is hard work, people don't always want to try for something new or better because they don't see those dreams as there reality. They only see it as a dream, they dont always want to work for what they see and accomplish the goals and when you're in a broken path it tends to follow you and bring you down more then turn around. Although people can come from bad neighborhoods and be famous and rich and have a good life not everyone will try to go for the same thing to have a good life. Parents also have a huge effect on who they rase and you may not rise up to become what your parents were but the 61 people in the working class that have kids will grow up to work hard and hopefully go far in life and it will be full of opportunity.

    1. I do not agree with your statement, although citizens still have the dream it does not mean they will not achieve it. I think that anyone can achieve something if they set their mind to it.

    2. I agree with your statement because people don't put in the effort and they don't put in hard work and that they want it to be given to them. It also doesn't really matter what type of neighborhood or what type of family a person comes from. Each individual is diffrent. For example, a person can come from a crappy house in a crappy neighborhood with a crappy family but can either turn that around and follow the American dream as in to work hard or he can follow his/her parents footsteps and just have the attitude to just give them the money

  76. I do not believe that the American Dream is still alive. I do not agree with this because although people say that the American dream is still alive, I do not think even half of those people will pursue their dream. They will take the job that comes easily to them and not work s hard as they can to achieve their dream. The American Dream is dead because people do not work as hard as they can and they think that they will be successful doing the bare minimum and then are upset and blame it on the economy that they arent making a lot of money. But if you work hard then the dream is still alive, It is alive for some people but some are just so lazy so for them, the American Dream is dead.

  77. The American Dream is alive but slowly dying out. I can tell because 61% of people say that they are in the middle class and working class where as a high 41% are in the lower class. This shows that the amount of money people had is dying because it has highly changed from the previous 4%. Also you can tell it is dying out because 69% of people say that when they are in high school they don't feel as though they have control. If they don't have control at this point in time, they will never learn to have control so therefore when they become adults, they will have absolutely no control.

  78. I believe that the American Dream is still alive because through hard work anything can be achieved. Although there are multiple factors that apply to living the American Dream many people still believe that no matter how bad our economy is doing and how bad your life is if you have hope you can achieve anything. 92% of Americans believe hard work is necessary for a stable economy and 89% believe having ambition is necessary. Because of these statistics I believe if you have ambition, hope and motivation to be successful that you can be no matter what.

  79. The American Dream is still very alive. In the slides you see many people view hardwork as on of the most important traits. The American Dream is only obtained through the use of hard work and if people still believe that then it will still happen. Another thing the Slides showed was that people believed that they could improve there economic situation. If people still have the ideas of hard work and the idea that they can improve themselves by doing hard work then the American dream is still alive

  80. I believe that the American dream is still alive today because if you work hard in life you will succeed and will live a good life. Whereas if you have things handed down to you then it isn't alive because you didn't work for it so therefore you don't feel as accomplished as you would if you did work for something you will feel proud of yourself and will be happy about it.

  81. I believe that the American Dream is struggling but it is still alive. I say that it is struggling because the economy is beginning to go down and can not help to support everyone in society. Going to the results the possibility to succeed chart is still in its strongest place for ages 18-29. Now normally you would think these results would be poor yet they were not. Also you can tell the dream is still there because a vast majority still believe that the Affects of economic mobility is Hard work. So by working hard you are able to financially secure yourselves.

  82. The American Dream is still alive today. Although its not the same as of the 1920’s to 50’s, there is still a dream. Now its all about having a well payed job with a perfect small family. Along with the luxury in going out to places, and visiting other places in the world. Compared to the 20’s it was about having all the nicest things and how you are better than your peers. In today’s society it might be economically harder to achieve this goal, however there are now many financial aids that will help an American live a comfortable life. Within the graphs 74% of the participants said that you are able to be free and accomplish anything. You just need the determination to do so for yourself. Along with in 2010 58 people (or percent) said that they live more comfortably than their parents did at their age. While 16 people (or percent) disagreed and said that they are living worse. Overall the American Dream is still alive but different compared to back then. Now its about being able to set out and accomplish anything you want, and not having to worry about the family duties, and having a much better lifestyle compared to back then.

  83. I believe the American Dream is alive today, regardless of the poor state of the economy. 56% of people in this country agree strongly that it is still possible for people to improve their economic standing through hard work and determination. 79% loosely agree that it is possible to change your standing, as well. Just that alone is reason enough to believe in the existence in the classic American Dream. That hard work, ambition, and determination can bring you a long way.

  84. In my opinion the American dream is dead. There are a lot of people who have high hopes for this country, but the survey has proved otherwise. On the section of the survey where it says “possible to Succeed in Today’s Society,” most believe they can. Although they believe this and most people know that the most important dynamic that affects the economy's mobility is hard work. To me it seems as if the majority of people have all of the ingredients necessary for succeeding, but not many are putting it all together. The fact that most people get their information from televisions shows that most people aren’t even willing to put in the effort to have a conversation about the economy. It seems to me as if we like sitting around and getting the information fed to us rather than making it our responsibility to be aware. The one thing I see as true is that we follow our parents footsteps. In the “Ability to Move Up Income Ladder Relative to Parents,” a vast majority of people think this is true. This continues to support my stance in which we do not work hard for what we want even though we are aware that it’s necessary for success. We are becoming more dependent on our parents and what they succeed for our own success.

  85. American Dream

The American Dream is something that people wish would happen and it's a very positive thing. In 2015, the american dream is alive and well. This is supported by the fact that 74 people say that being free to accomplish anything is very important. 68 people think it is very important to say or do anything you want. 92 people think it is very important for hard work, then 83 people believe staying healthy and quality k-12 education is very important to the american dream because being able to be accomplish anything and say and do what you want is awesome and everyone should go to school so they can grow up smart.
